Our congregation adheres to the principles of Conservative Judaism and Emet Ve'emunah, a statement of the philosophy of Conservative Judaism completed by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism in 1988. We observe the laws of Kashrut, the traditions of Shabbat, and use Siddur Sim Shalom and Chumash Etz Hayim for prayer and meditation. Most Avodah HaShem (worship services), except for the Shabbat Morning Service of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, are held in the Bookey Chapel.
Weekday Shacharit
Tuesday and Thursday - 7:00 a.m. / Sunday & Legal Holidays - 9:00 a.m. if the Des Moines schools experience a weather-related closing
Shabbat
Kabbalat/Carlebach Shabbat & Ma'ariv - 6:00 p.m. considered severe enough to cause a school closing
The Guide provides an introduction to our yearly cycle of holy days and their history,
significance, and practice. Since it is by no means comprehensive, you should speak to a
Rabbi or refer to one of the sources listed herein for additional information. |
